A past report claimed that Sony is planning to launch five versions of the XPERIA Z6. These include the 4-inch Sony XPERIA Z6 Mini, the 4.6-inch Sony XPERIA Z6 Compact, the 5.2-inch Sony XPERIA Z6, the 5.8-inch Sony XPERIA Z6 Plus, and the 6.4-inch Sony XPERIA Z6 Ultra. If a new report is to be believed, a sixth version could be on the works – the Sony XPERIA Z6 Lite.
Sony cooking up the XPERIA Z6 Lite with Snapdragon 650 under the hood?
This new rumour comes to us courtesy of Chinese-speaking Mobile-dad. According to the report, the Sony XPERIA Z6 Lite will feature a 5-inch screen. Sadly, the screen’s resolution is yet to be determined. The report adds that the device will feature a metal rear cover. Under the hood is said to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC (formerly known as the Snapdragon 618), which is a 64-bit hexa-core processor with an Adreno 510 GPU to handle graphics. The Soc also comes with a Cat 7 4G LTE modem and support for 4K Ultra HD video. This said, the XPERIA Z6 Lite could record videos in 4K. This, however, doesn’t mean that the smartphone’s screen will feature 4K resolution like the XPERIA Z5 Premium.
The report also claims to know how much the Sony XPERIA Z6 Lite will set buyers back. It is said to cost around £260 (in China at least), and will make its official debut alongside the Sony XPERIA Z6 Mini, the Sony XPERIA Z6 Compact, the Sony XPERIA Z6, the Sony XPERIA Z6 Plus, and the Sony XPERIA Z6 Ultra in May of this year.
Of course, since Sony is yet to officially unveil the XPERIA Z6 Lite, we can’t verify if this rumour is accurate. So take it with a pinch of salt.
