Lately, we’ve been coming across a number of reports that claims to leak details on the yet to be announced Sony XPERIA Z5, Sony’s upcoming flagship. Now, new leaked photos that allegedly show a dummy unit of the said smartphone have surfaced.

The photos you see above were leaked in China, and first spotted by French-speaking Nowhereelse, a site known for leaking accurate information on yet to be announced devices.
The photos show what is claimed to be the Sony XPERIA Z5 in a protective clear case. Although it is protected in a clear case, we can still see the device’s overall design. Taking a closer look at the photos, you will notice that the Z5 looks a lot like its predecessor – the XPERIA Z3 Plus (launched in international markets including the UK) and the XPERIA Z4 (launched only in Japan).
We’ve learned from past reports that the Sony XPERIA Z5 will come with a screen (unknown screen size, possibly a 5.2-inch screen just like the XPERIA Z3 Plus) with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). In the camera department, the Z5 is expected to sport a 21.5-megapixel rear-facing camera, possibly the same snapper found on board the recently unveiled XPERIA M5. It is said to sport either 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM. Under the hood is said to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor with four cores clocked at 2 GHz, four cores clocked at 1.5 GHz, and an Adreno 430 GPU. Sadly, this is the same processor that has been causing overheating problems with the XPERIA Z3 Plus, which results in the smartphone crashing. We’re hoping that Sony resolves this issue, before its releases the XPERIA Z5.
So when it Sony expected to lift the lid on the XPERIA Z5? The Japanese device maker is expected to officially unveil the XPERIA Z5, the XPERIA Z5 Compact, and the XPERIA Z5 Plus at the IFA 2015 trade show, which kicks off in Berlin, Germany. IFA 2015 will start on the 4th of September and end on the 9th of the same month.
Of course, since we can’t confirm if the photos show the actual XPERIA Z5 dummy or not, take this with a pinch of salt.
