It’s no secret that Sony’s smartphone division is in trouble. So much in trouble that Sony’s CEO Kazuo Hirai said in an interview with the BBC there was “no guarantee” for its mobile or other divisions. It seems, however, that the Japanese firm isn’t willing to throw in the towel, as it has gone all out in its XPERIA Z3 and XPERIA Z3 Compact global marketing campaign, promising “profitable growth.”
Speaking to Business Insider, Catherine Cherry, the Sony marketing director for UK, Ireland, and Benelux, said that Sony will launch a new global marketing campaign for the XPERIA Z3 and the XPERIA Z3 Compact in an assortment of mediums including TV, billboards, and digital. Sony will be spending as much as it did when it launched the two smartphones last year.

With Sony going guns blazing with the XPERIA Z3 and the Z3 Compact, it seems that we won’t be seeing the Sony XPERIA Z4 anytime soon.
To recap, the Sony XPERIA Z4 is expected to sport a 5.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 32-64 GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (previous reports claimed it would not come with the feature), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor with four cores clocked at 2 GHz and four cores clocked at 1.5 GHz, an Adreno 430 GPU, 3 GB of RAM, and a non-removable battery. It is said to be IP68-certified just like its predecessor, which means it can be submerged in a meter of water for as much as 30 minutes. It is said to measure 146.3 x 71.9 x 7.2 mm. It will run Android 5.0 (Lollipop) out of the box.
