Recently, we came across the possible model number of the Sony XPERIA Z4 Compact. Now, a leaked accessory catalog of the network operator further gives credence to the existence of the XPERIA Z4’s little brother.
The screenshot above come to us courtesy of Japanese-speaking SMHN. It shows Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo’s leaked spring/summer accessory catalog, revealing that it will provide accessories for both the Z4 and Z4 Compact.
Unfortunately, other than mentioning the Z4 Compact, the listing doesn’t reveal very much. However, we do know about the bigger Z4. Its official specs include a 5.2-inch Triluminos screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (pixel density of 424 ppi), a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 5.1-megapixel front-facing camera, 32-64 GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (support for as much as 128 GB), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor with four cores clocked at 2 GHz and four cores clocked at 1.5 GHz, an Adreno 430 GPU, 3 GB of RAM, and a non-removable 2,930 mAh battery. It is clad in metal. It is IP6 certified for dust and IP5 and IP8 certified for water. This means it can be submerged in 4.92 feet for as long as 30 minutes. It measure 146 x 72 x 6.9 mm and weighs in at 144 g. It runs Android 5.0 (Lollipop) out of the box.
With those specs in mind and based on the previous Z3 Compact, we know that the Z4 Compact will be a smaller version of the Z4, but its hardware will be just as powerful. So we’re expecting the trimmed down smartphone to sport a Snapdragon 810 under the hood as well.
The international version of the XPERIA Z4 is expected to make its debut in May. We’re expecting to hear more about Z4 Compact in the coming weeks.
