Samsung Denmark has revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini (SM-G800) will soon be updated to Android 5.0.1 (Lollipop).
In February, Samsung France said that the Galaxy S5 Mini would be getting Lollipop treatment in Q2 2015 (April to June). The update includes the Material Design of Android 5.0, Lock Screen notifications, the 64-bit ART compiler that opens apps faster, Project Volta for improved battery life, Quick Settings pull-down shade from any page, new Recent Apps menu and more.
To recap, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini sports a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 (pixel density of 326 ppi), an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, 16 GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (support for as much as a 64 GB microSD card), Samsung’s Exynos 3470 quad-core processor with each core clocked at 1.4 GHz, a Mali 400MP4 GPU, 1.5 GB of RAM, and a 2,100 mAh battery.
Although Samsung Denmark does confirm that the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini will be updated to Android 5.0.1 (Lollipop), it doesn’t say when the update will be rolling out to the smartphone. As we mentioned earlier, Samsung France said that the update would be rolling out to the smartphone in Q2 2015. This means that we should expect the update to roll out in between this month and June.
