Google is expected to lift the lid on two new Nexus devices this year. One is said to be a Nexus smartphone made by LG, while the other is said to be a Nexus phablet made by Huawei. Recently, photos revealed more details about the yet to be announced device. Now new leaked photos have more details to share on the 5.7-inch phablet.
Huawei Nexus with USB Type-C port
Recently, alleged leaked photos of the Huawei Nexus 6 (2015) confirmed that the phablet will be clad in metal. They also confirmed that the device would come with dual-front-facing speakers and a fingerprint scanner found on the back of the device. These are two features that are rumoured to be on board the device, with one feature missing. This is a USB Type-C port, which allows users to not worry about plugging in the cable the wrong way. Now new photos confirm that the phablet will come with the feature.
The photos you see above come to us courtesy of Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo (China’s equivalent of Twitter). The photos show the Huawei Nexus protected in a clear case. Despite this, they still look a lot like previously leaked photos of the device.
Switch from Snapdragon 810 to Snapdragon 820?
One of the photos above show us that the Huawei Nexus will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor under the hood. This has caused concern with Nexus fans, since the said processor has caused overheating issues with devices such as the HTC One M9 and the Sony XPERIA Z3 Plus (launched as the Sony XPERIA Z4 in Japan). So why did Google and Huawei decide to go with the said processor? According to the source of the post on Weibo, Google and Huawei could switch to the unannounced Snapdragon 820 CPU once the Nexus 6 (2015) is launched. Another reason for making the switch is said to be connectivity problems with the 810 and the Nexus device. At the moment, not much information about the Snapdragon 820 has been leaked.
We have learned from previous reports that the Huawei Nexus will be clad in metal. Rumoured specs include a 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD), 3 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of internal storage. It will run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box.
Of course, since this is anything but official, take this information with a pinch of salt.
