According to reports back in October, the yet to be announced Huawei P9 would feature a dual-camera setup, which was backed up by a photo (see below) that allegedly show labels for the said device. The labels showed cutouts for the flash and camera. What makes these labels interesting is that there are two cutouts for the rear-facing camera, suggesting that the P9 would feature a dual-camera setup. Now, new leaked specs of the device re-confirm that the P9 will feature a dual-camera setup.
The news comes to us courtesy of XiaomiToday. According to the report, the Huawei P9 would feature a rear-facing dual-camera setup.
The report also leaks the P9’s specs. It claims the device will feature a 5.2-inch AMOLED screen. The report says that there is a possibility that the screen’s resolution will be 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). Under the hood is said to be Huawei’s Kirin 950 SoC, which is an octa-core processor with Mali-T880 MP4 GPU to handle graphics, coupled with 4GB of RAM.
Going back to the labels, one says “LTE,” while the other says “DELUX.” This suggests that there will be two versions of the device – one obviously a version with 4G LTE support, and the other rumoured to be a larger version.
The larger version is said to be the Huawei P9 Max, which features a 6.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. Under the hood is expected to be a Kirin 950 SoC, coupled with 4 GB of RAM. On board is said to be 64 GB of internal storage. It is expected to run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box.
So when do we get to get our hands on the Huawei P9? According to recent reports, the device will be launched sometime in March. The Huawei P8 was launched in April of this year.
