Recently, an alleged image of the yet to be announced Huawei P9 revealed the smartphone’s design. The design mirrored what we’ve been hearing in the past, which is a a dual rear-facing camera setup. Additionally, the image revealed that the device would feature rounded corners and a home button. We also learned that the device could feature Huawei’s Kirin 950 SoC. Now a mystery Huawei-made device has passed through the Geekbench benchmark database with the said CPU under the hood, and the results are impressive. This mystery device could be the Huawei P9.
Huawei P9 passes through Geekbench?
The Geekbench benchmark result was spotted by Hungarian-speaking Techlabor. The listing reveals that the mystery Huawei-made device features the Kirin 950 chipset (Hi 3650) SoC under the hood, coupled with 4 GB of RAM. This CPU is a 1.8 GHz octa-core processor with a Mali-T880 MP4 GPU to handle graphics. The listing also shows that the device runs Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). More importantly, the device scored an impressive 7313 in the multi-core test, topping the score of 7037 scored by a mystery device with the MediaTek Helio X20 SoC (deca-core processor) under the hood.
So far, we’ve learned that the Huawei P9 is rumoured to feature a 5.2-inch AMOLED screen with a possible resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). There are said to be two versions of the device – an LTE and a DELUXE version. This suggests that there will be two versions of the device – one obviously a version with 4G LTE support, and the other rumoured to be a larger version. According to past reports, the larger version will be the Huawei P9 Max, which is said to feature a 6.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. The device is said to feature 64 GB of internal storage.
So when will we get to get our hands on the Huawei P9? Past reports have claimed that the device will be launched earlier than usual in March of this year. For reference, the Huawei P9 was launched in April of last year.
