The HTC One M9 was expected to be launched in Taiwan first on the 16th of March (Monday), but according to Taiwanese media, the launch was delayed due to a “software upgrade.”
The news comes to us courtesy of FocusTaiwan. The news agency reportedly got an email from HTC, saying that the HTC One M9 will be available “as soon as possible,” and that the reason behind the delay is “the latest version of software.” Additionally, some interested parties who pre-ordered the device received and email from the Taiwanese firm, informing them that the smartphone will be launched on the 20th of March (Friday) instead.
So what’s the reason behind the software upgrade? According to one poster on Taiwanese social media, the HTC One M9 could suffer from “boot failure” without the upgrade.
At the time of writing, the HTC One M9 is available for pre-order from HTC UK for £585.39 (VAT included), but a release date is yet to be announced. According to a an electronics retailer in New York, HTC will launch its new flagship on the 25th of March, which is exactly a year after the Taiwanese firm launched the HTC One (M8).
