It’s confirmed. HTC will be the manufacturer behind the rumoured Google Nexus 9 tablet. This means that the Taiwanese phone maker will be breaking its tree-year-long hiatus from the tablet market, after the unsuccessful HTC Flyer.
HTC’s president of North Asia, Jack Tong, said at a press briefing in New York City that the Nexus 9 is “HTC’s commitment” to the company’s return to the tablet market, Focus Taiwan reports.
According to Tong, the tablet may be available in Taiwan in Q4 2014. Taiwan’s NCC (National Communications Commission) approved the tablet for sale in the country on the 6th of October.
Word on the street is HTC will lift the lid on the Nexus 9 on the 16th of October.
