In Kuo’s note to investors obtained by AppleInsider, the analyst says that Apple is cooking up 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch versions of the upcoming iPhone next year. No surprise there, as this was the same case with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus last year and the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus this year. What makes his research note interesting, however, is that the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 is said to feature 2 GB of RAM, while the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus is said to offer 3 GB of RAM. Kuo adds that the two will come packed with the new A10 chip under the hood.

Kuo also says that Apple will go back to the drawing board when it comes to the new iPhones’ design. Although the analyst failed to mention specifics, he previously said that Apple is attempting to make the iPhone 7 a mere 6 mm-thin, which is thinner than the iPad Air 2.

So when do we get to see Apple new iPhones? According to Kuo, Apple will lift the lid on the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus in September of 2016, which means the two will be unveiled around a year after their predecessors made their official debut this year.

Normally, we tell you to take a pinch of salt when rumours are concerned, but, since Kuo is behind these new rumours, they are likely to be accurate. Back when the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S were yet to be announced, Kuo accurately predicted that the two would be clad in 7,000 series aluminium and that the two would feature a Force Touch display, which was previously exclusive to the Apple Watch. He also said that we would not see the 4-inch iPhone 6C this year. In a recent report, he said that the 4-inch iPhone 7C would be launched in 2016. In the same note to investors, Kuo claimed that the 4-inch iPhone would be clad in metal and that it would feature the A9 chip under the hood, which is the same CPU that powers the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus.
