We’ve been coming across a number of leaks involving the LG V10 phablet in past few weeks, and now the device has made its official debut.
LG V10 now official
The LG V10 is the first device to join the South Korean smartphone maker’s new V series. Apart from the main screen, it features a secondary screen that enhances users’ multimedia experience. When the main screen is off, the secondary screen shows the time, date, weather, and the battery icon. When the main screen is on, the secondary screen cat be made to run shortcuts or run your favourite apps. It also shows notifications such as texts or calls, without interrupting what you’re doing on the device such as watching videos. The secondary screen can be “always on” without draining the battery.
Specs-wise, the LG V10 sports a 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). This works out to a pixel density of 513 ppi. The second 2.1-inch screen has a resolution of 160 x 1040 pixels. This works out to a pixel density of 513 ppi. Its camera combo includes a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with f/1.8 aperture and OIS 2.0 and dual 5-megapixel front-facing camera that allow users to snap a 120 degree wide angle selfie. The device offers 64 GB of internal storage. If more storage is needed, the phablet comes with a microSD card slot (as much as 2 TB). Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor with an Adreno 418 GPU, coupled with 4 GB of LPDDR3 RAM. It supports 4G LYE-A (Cat.6), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, and USB 2.0. To keep the lights on, it features a 3,000 mAh removable battery. The LG V10 runs Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) out of the box. It is 8.6 mm-thick and weighs in at 192 g.
According to a third party lab, the LG V10 is “MIL-STD-810G Transit Drop Compliant.” This means that the phablet with a stainless steel frame is protected from the usual bumps and falls. Additionally, the Dura Skin cover protects the device from scratches. It also provides users with a better grip.
The LG V10’s colour options include Space Black, Luxe White, Modern Beige, Ocean Blue, and Opal Blue. The phablet will be available in the US, China, and other key markets in Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. It is yet to be determined if the device will be available in Europe, but LG says that more markets will be announced soon. Pricing is yet to be determined as well.
