Thanks to previous reports, we know that BlackBerry is cooking up a high-end slider called the BlackBerry Venice. What makes this new smartphone by the Canadian phone maker is that it does not run BlackBerry 10 OS, but Android. Now, more images of the rumoured device has been leaked.
BlackBerry Venice leaked images
We’ve been seeing a number of leaks involving the rumoured BlackBerry Venice. Now, serial leakster Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) claims that the smartphone has been “confirmed” for a “November release,” and that all major network operators in the US will offer the device. Included in the tweet was the image seen above.
One of the photos (top left) shows Android Lollipop. The same photo shows the handset has access to Google Play. Rumour has it that the device will run Android 5.1 (Lollipop) out of the box with BlackBerry services slapped on top. The remaining images show that the device will come with BlackBerry services.
Soon after the images above were leaked, Blass leaked a new render of the BlackBerry Venice.
This leaked render adds more fuel to the flame to rumours claiming the BlackBerry Venice will run Android. On the screen, we can see icons you normally see on an Android device. These include the Play Store icon.
According to past reports, the BlackBerry Venice is said to sport a curved 5.4-inch screen (similar to that on board the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge) with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). Its camera combo is said to include an 18-megapixel rear-facing camera with OIS (optical image stabilisation) and a 5-megapixel front-facing selfie-centric camera. Also found on the front of the device are fornt-facing speakers. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor with four ARM Cortex-A53, two ARM Cortex-A57 cores, and an Adreno 418 GPU to handle graphics, coupled with 3 GB of RAM.
The BlackBerry Venice is also said to come in a version that runs BlackBerry 10 OS.
Blass says that all four major network operators in the US will be offering the BlackBerry Venice in November. However, it is yet to be determined if one of the most intriguing smartphones to ever come out of the rumour mill will be available in the UK. We’ll just have to wait and see.
