Image shows BlackBerry Priv’s curved screen in action

We know that the BlackBerry Priv features a curved screen just like the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, but what remains a mystery is if the Priv’s screen will function similar to the way the edged screen of the S6 Edge shows data. An image reveals how the Priv’s screen will work.

The image seen above was sent to PhoneArena by one of the site’s “loyal readers,” who has gotten his hands on a fully functional BlackBerry Priv. The image shows the smartphone’s edged screen showing the battery indicator. Although the image only shows the battery indicator, we’re sure there will be other features that the curved screen can show – things like messages, calls, and apps.

To recap, the BlackBerry Priv sports 5.4-inch dual-curved screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor (two cores clocked at 1.8 GHz, four cores clocked at 1.44 GHz, and an Adreno 418 GPU to handle graphics), coupled with 3 GB of RAM. In the photography department, the Priv features an 18-megapixel rear-facing camera with OIS and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for snapping selfies and video chat. The device offers 32 GB of internal storage, but if this isn’t enough you can always make use of a microSD card (as much as 2 TB). To keep the lights on, the listing reveals that the device will sport a 3,410 mAh battery that offers longer battery life. It runs Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) out of the box.

The BlackBerry Priv is not only a high-end Android-powered smartphone that sports a slide-out physical QWERTY keyboard, it is also, according to BlackBerry, the most secure device with the design focusing more on privacy. It comes with an early warning DTEK system that warns users when their privacy has been compromised.

Carphone Warehouse is accepting pre-orders for the BlackBerry Priv, starting at £49 per month. The device will ship starting on the 6th of November.
