Expecting Sony to lift the lid on the XPERIA Z4 at MWC 2015 early next month? Well, if a source is to be believed, you’ll be disappointed.
We’ve already learned that Sony wasn’t planning to lift the lid on its next flagship at MWC 2015, which kicks off in Barcelona, Spain from the 1st to the 5th of March, thanks to previous reports. Now, a source speaking to Xperia Blog re-confirms that Sony will be at MWC 2015, but will only have a booth and is not planning to host a huge press event. This lines up with rumours claiming that the Japanese phone maker will be unveiling the XPERIA Z4 later this year. Word on the street is in the summer. This could explain why in the past weeks we’ve been hearing more about the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. We’ve also been hearing a lot about the HTC One (M9), but not much about the XPERIA Z4.
This also suggests that Sony will be reverting back to its one flagship per year cycle, instead of the one flagship per six months. Sony’s reason for releasing two flagships a year is to allow it to adapt better to ever-evolving tech and offer its customers the best there is to offer. This decision, however, seems to have affected sales, which may be the reason why Sony is reportedly going back to a one flagship per year cycle.
Of course, since this is all speculation at the moment, take this with a pinch of salt.
