Lollipop update for Sony XPERIA Z ‘coming soon’

Sony released the XPERIA Z in February of 2013. This means that the smartphone has been around for more than two years. So if you own one, you must be wondering when your smartphone will be treated to Android 5.0 (Lollipop) goodness. You may be thinking that the update will never roll out to the older XPERIA Z, but it looks like it will, as Sony says the update will be pushed out to the smartphone “soon.”

The image you see above was posted by Sony on its Google+ account. It doesn’t mention the XPERIA Z, but the image is a render of the smartphone.

Here’s the post:

A few weeks ago, Sony started to push out the Lollipop update to the XPERIA Z3 and the XPERIA Z3 Compact. A day after, the Japanese phone maker also started rolling out the update to the XPERIA Z2 Tablet, the XPERIA Z3 Tablet Compact, and the XPERIA Z2.

Recently, Sony confirmed that the XPERIA C3 and the XPERIA T2 Ultra will soon be getting the update, and now it seems the XPERIA Z will be added to that list.

Unfortunately, it is yet to be determined when exactly the update will be available for the XPERIA Z.
