The Sony XPERIA Z5 has just launched in the UK back in October. The new Sony flagship runs Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) out of the box, but, since Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) now powers Nexus devices and other devices such as the HTC One A9, you must be wondering when the latest version of Android will be available for your Z5. According to a tweet, Marshmallow will be available for your smartphone in January.

Unfamiliar with the Sony XPERIA Z5? If so, it sports a 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (Full HD). This works out to a pixel density of 428 ppi. There is a compact version and a larger version of the Z5. These are the XPERIA Z5 Compact and the XPERIA Z5 Premium, respectively. Its main camera is a 23-megapixel rear-facing shooter that can record videos in 4K. It’s secondary camera is a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper that is perfect for snapping selfies and video chat. It offers 32 GB of internal storage. For more storage options, unlike other flagships, it comes with a microSD card slot. Most of today’s flagships feature fingerprint scanners. The XPERIA Z5 is no exception. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor with an Adreno 430, coupled with 3 GB of RAM. This may seem like troubling news, but a past video has revealed that Sony has solved the overheating issues of the Snapdragon 810 CPU. Of course, we’ll put the smartphone through a series of tests to make sure these claims are accurate. Back to the specs, it sports a 2,900 mAh battery to keep the lights on. It is IP68-certified, which means it is dust- and water-resistant.
Of course, since Sony is yet to announce when exactly the Sony XPERIA Z5 will get the Marshmallow update, take this with a pinch of salt.
