Here are the Sony XPERIA devices to skip Lollipop and directly get Marshmallow update

Early in October Sony announced that a number of its devices will be updated to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). Sadly, the Japanese phone maker did not reveal when it would be rolling out the update for its smartphones and tablets. Among the devices on that list are devices that are still running Android 5.0 (Lollipop). In a new announcement, Sony has revealed that these devices running Android 5.0 will skip Android 5.1 and be updated directly to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). The Android 5.1 (Lollipop) update has already been rolled out to devices such as the Sony XPERIA Z2, Sony XPERIA Z3, and the Sony XPERIA Z3 Compact.

Here are the Sony XPERIA smartphones that will get the Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) update:

  • Sony XPERIA Z5
  • Sony XPERIA Z5 Compact
  • Sony XPERIA Z5 Premium
  • Sony XPERIA Z3 Plus
  • Sony XPERIA Z3
  • Sony XPERIA Z3 Compact
  • Sony XPERIA Z2
  • Sony XPERIA M5
  • Sony XPERIA C5 Ultra

Sony Mobile’s official support pages reveal that the following will skip the Android 5.1 (Lollipop) update for the Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) update:

  • Sony XPERIA M4 Aqua
  • Sony XPERIA C4
  • Sony XPERIA C5 Ultra
  • Sony XPERIA M5
  • Sony XPERIA Z3 Plus
  • Sony XPERIA Z4 Tablet

It good to know that the devices in the list above will skip the Android 5.1 (Lollipop) update for the Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) update. Sadly, Sony is yet to announce when the latest version of Android will be available for the said devices. It’s obvious, however, that the Japanese firm is still working on the update, and we’re hoping that it will roll out to the said devices starting next month.

We’ll keep you posted once an official announcement is made.
