According to previous reports, some units of the Sony XPERIA Z5 Compact were experiencing touchscreen issues. Sony has acknowledged the issue and has promised to roll out a software update to fix the problem soon.
Sony XPERIA Z5 Compact screen issue fix coming soon
Earlier reports suggested that the touchscreen issues of the XPERIA Z5 Compact was a hardware problem, but, since Sony has promised that an update will fix the issue, it seems that the culprit behind the problem is software. According to Sony, the update that will fix the issue will roll out starting on week 44, which starts on the 26th of October.
Here’s Sony‘s official statement:
Sony Mobile is committed to providing the highest standards of product quality and customer service for all of our products. We are aware of reports of a limited number of customers experiencing touch input issues on their white Xperia™ Z5 Compact devices. By gathering information and analysing returned devices we have found the root cause and will release a new software to improve the user experience on your white Z5 Compact.
Other colour versions of the Xperia™ Z5 Compact are not affected by this issue. The software update will be available on our support software PC Companion and Bridge for Mac from beginning of week 44. The software is rolling out through retail partners with exact timings varying by region and/or operator.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Sony XPERIA Z5 Compact, the smartphone features a 4.6-inch screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (HD). This works out to a pixel density of 323 ppi. Like many of today’s high-end devices, the XPERIA Z5 Compact features a fingerprint scanner. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor with an Adreno 430, coupled with 2 GB of RAM. You may find this concerning, as the Snapdragon 810 has caused overheating problems with the smartphone’s predecessor the XPERIA Z3 Plus, but recent reports have revealed that Sony has solved the overheating issues of the said CPU. Of course, we’re going to have to test the device to prove this. Its main camera is a 23-megapixel rear-facing shooter that can record videos in 4K. It’s secondary camera is a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper that is perfect for snapping selfies and video chat. It comes with 32 GB of internal storage. If ever more storage options are needed, it comes with a microSD card slot. To keep the lights on, it comes with a 2,700 mAh battery. It is IP68-certified, which means it is dust- and water-resistant.
Among all the smaller versions of flagships, the Sony XPERIA Z5 Compact (like other Compact series smartphones before it) does not fall short when performance comes to mind, which makes it perfect for users who want the best specs on board but need a more compact profile.
