Thanks to multiple rumours, leaks, and renders circulating around the internet, we have learned that Samsung is cooking up a phablet version of the Galaxy S6 Edge called the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. We also know that the device will make its official debut on the 13th of August at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2015 event in New York City. The question is, however, when will it be available and how much will the device set interested parties back? A new report claims to have inside information on the said device’s pricing – around £567. The same report also says that the phablet be available on the 21st of August.
The new rumour comes to us courtesy of SamMobile, a site renowned for leaking accurate information on unannounced Samsung devices. It reports:
Our insiders have confirmed to us that the Galaxy S6 edge+ price starts from 799,99 euro for the 32GB model, that’s close to $880 as per the prevailing rate. Since its launch the Galaxy S6 edge’s retail price has been 849,99 euro and Samsung is not going to be sell it for more than what it’s asking for the new variant which is why the price will be cut. Samsung has already confirmed today that it’s going to reduce prices of both the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge to maintain sales momentum. It’s possible that the Galaxy S6 edge might be discounted by 100 euro in order to make space for the Galaxy S6 edge+. The handset will go on sale starting August 21.
To recap, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus’ rumoured specs include a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (QHD), a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with a 1/2.6″ sensor with OIS (optical image stabilisation), a 5-megapixel front-facing selfie-centric camera, Samsung’s Exynos 7420 or 7422 CPU under the hood, and 4 GB of RAM.
