We’ve learned that Samsung is planning to launch a more rugged version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 – the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active. Now the yet to be announced smartphone has made an appearance at the Bluetooth SIG‘s database (see screenshot below).
The listing does not mention “Samsung Galaxy S6 Active,” but the device’s model number – “SM-G890A.” That particular model has come up in previous reports, and it is believed to be the S6 Active headed to US network operator AT&T.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is said to sport a 5.1-inch with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD) (slightly larger than the 5-inch screen of the s6 and s6 Edge), a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) made by Sony, a 5-megapixel front-facing selfie-centric camera, 32/64/128 GB of internal storage, Samsung’s Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor with four cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and four cores clocked at 1.5 GHz, 3 GB of DDR4 RAM, LTE Cat.6 (300/50Mbps) connectivity, and a larger 3,500 mAh battery. Unlike the S6 and S6 Edge, the S6 Active is said to come with a microSD card slot. It will run Android 5.0 (Lollipop) out of the box with a 64-bit TouchWiz UI slapped on top.
So when do we get to see the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active? Word on the street is, the South Korean tech giant will make the device official in the summer.
