Samsung Galaxy S5 review testing IP57 certification surfaces

How waterproof is the Samsung Galaxy S5?

Samsung recently lifted the lid on the Samsung Galaxy S5 last month at MWC 2014 in Barcelona, Spain. The Korean tech giant’s new flagship will not be arriving in shops until the 11th of April. Despite this there have been a number of reviews that have surfaced, detailing the features, specs, and design of the new handset. The first was from Eldar Murtazin, infamous mobile insider and Editor of Russian-speaking Mobile-Review. A new Russian-speaking review has surfaced. This time, it tests the IP57 certification of the handset.

The new review comes from Hi-tech.mail.ru. The review does the usual things such as reviewing the design, interface, camera capabilities, and performance of the Samsung Galaxy S5. However, what’s interesting about this review is the IP57 test.

So what’s the verdict? The Samsung says that the Galaxy S5 is “water-resistant.” It turns out, the Korean device maker was being humble. The IP57 standard means that a device can be left submerged in up to 3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes, which is exactly what the S5 has proven in the review.
