According to a report, Samsung will begin to roll out the Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update to the Samsung Galaxy S4 in early 2015. The first variant to receive the update will be the variant with a Samsung-made Exynos processor under the hood.
The news comes to us courtesy of Samsung insider SamMobile. According to the site, “Thanks to our sources, we can confirm that Samsung will be updating the Galaxy S4 to Android 5.0. That shouldn’t come as surprising since the S4 is still under the 18-month update guarantee period, but it’s notable as this would mean that the Galaxy S4 will be getting its third major update after Android 4.3 and 4.4 (though as many will argue, neither were as major as 5.0, and we’d have to agree.)
“The Exynos variant (GT-I9500) should receive the update first, sometime early next year, though naturally these plans can always change in the coming months based on how quickly Samsung is able to port everything over, and also on things like carrier and regional delays.”
Despite SamMobile’s reputation for being accurate, take this with a pinch of salt, since Samsung is yet to make an official announcement.
Phones LTD will let you know once the update goes live for the Samsung Galaxy S4 in the UK.
