Early in 2015, a trademark application revealed the Galaxy A8, an unannounced smartphone to be added to Samsung’s Galaxy A series. Initial reports indicated that the device would be a Chinese exclusive, but now insiders are saying that the smartphone will be available in markets across Asia and Europe as well.
The new rumour comes to us courtesy of SamMobile‘s insiders. The insiders claim that the Galaxy A8 may sport a fingerprint scanner, just like that on the Galaxy S6, which means it could be a touch-based sensor.
Previous reports have revealed that the Galaxy A8 will sport a 5.7-inch 1080p Super AMOLED screen, a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 16 GB of internal storage, LTE connectivity, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, and a 3,050 mAh battery. Like other smartphones in the Galaxy A series, the A8 is said to sport a meal frame. it is said to be a mere 5.9 mm-thick. It will run Android 5.0 (Lollipop) out of the box. It is expected to enter the mid-range market.
Despite SamMobile’s reputation for being accurate when leaking information on yet to be announced devices by Samsung, since this is anything but official, take this with a pinch of salt.
