Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) seems to have come out of retirement, as he has leaked new renders of the yet to be announced rugged version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge – the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active.
Although it is yet to be determined how thick the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active will be, we can tell from the renders that it will be thicker than the slim S6 and S6 Active. Other specs are expected to be exactly the same as its regular and edged counterparts. These specs include a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD) and a pixel density of 577 ppi, a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) (some units ship with cameras made by Samsung, while some units ship with cameras made by Sony), a 5-megapixel front-facing selfie-centric camera, 32/64/128 GB of internal storage, Samsung’s Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor with four cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and four cores clocked at 1.5 GHz, 3 GB of DDR4 RAM, LTE Cat.6 (300/50Mbps) connectivity, and support for wireless charging. It is said to sport a 2,550 mAh battery to keep the everything running. It will run Android 5.0 (Lollipop) out of the box with a 64-bit TouchWiz UI slapped on top.
Like its predecessor, the S6 Active is expected to be launched exclusively in the US.
