Samsung Galaxy S7 with Exynos 8890 SoC on board spotted on Geekbench

Recently, we passed along a report that claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S7 with the Exynos 8890 SoC under the hood (international version and the version headed to the UK) with model number SM-G930F passed through the AnTuTu benchmark site for testing. Now, another version of the S7 that also features the said processor has passed through another benchmark site for testing.

The screenshot above shows a Geekbench3 result, which was first spotted by Hungarian-speaking NapiDroid.hu. It lists another version of the Samsung Galaxy S7 that bears the model number “SM-G930W8.” This version of the Korean tech giant’s next flagship also features the Exynos 8890 SoC. Most of the versions of the S7 that have been tested feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC. This version is headed to markets such as the US and China.

Geekbench reveals that the Samsung Galaxy S7 with the Exynos 8890 SoC under the hood features 4 GB of RAM, which mirrors the AnTuTu benchmark site’s findings. Geekbench also re-confirms that the S7 will run Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) out of the box. We’d actually be surprised if it didn’t.

As for how well the Samsung Galaxy S7 with the Exynos 8890 SoC on board performed, it scored 1873 in the single-core test, and 5946 in the multi-core test. For reference, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge scored 1495 in the single-core test, and 5375 in the multi-core test. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge feature the Exynos 7420 SoC under the hood.

Going back to AnTuTu’s findings, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is said to feature a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). In the photography department, the S7 is said to feature a larger 12-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for snapping selfies and video chat.

So when do we get to see the Samsung Galaxy S7 make its official debut? We’ve learned from numerous reports that the Korean tech giant’s next flagship will be officially announced in Barcelona, Spain on the 21st of February (a day before Mobile World Congress 2016 happens in the country). Reports also say that the device will be available in stores soon after its official unveiling.
