Anonymous Samsung employee spills the beans on Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

Samsung is expected to lift the lid on the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge soon, and it seems the Korean tech giant can’t keep the lid on its next flagship. In a new leak, a person who is claiming to be a Samsung employee has spilled the beans on the said devices.

According to an alleged Samsung employee

A person who is claiming to be a Samsung employee has leaked information about the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge to Korean-speaking Naver. According to this person, the device will feature a black chassis to make it look more premium. Speaking about the S7’s rear-facing camera, the Samsung employee mirrors what we’ve heard in the past, which is a new and larger 12-megapixel sensor that is more ideal for snapping photos and recording videos low-light conditions. He (or she) adds that Samsung will use the slogan “On the night,” which could refer to the devices’ superior camera capabilities. The larger 12-megapixel sensor is said to perform better than the smaller 16-megapixel sensor on board the Galaxy S6. Do you think that camera hump on the Galaxy S6 is an eye sore? If reports are to be believed, the S7’s camera will be flush with the rear surface.

The alleged Samsung employee has more to share about the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge. The employee re-confirms that the two will be dust and water proof, a feature that was on board the Galaxy S5 but omitted from the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. Additionally, the two new flagships are said to feature a hybrid dual SIM card slot that will allow users to make use of a microSD card. This is another feature that wasn’t on board the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. As for the S7’s battery capacity, the employee didn’t reveal anything specific, only saying that the device will make use of a larger battery. As for colour options, the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge are said to be available in the colours Black, White Silver, and Gold.

Of course, since Samsung is yet to officially unveil the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge, take this with a pinch of salt.

Samsung is expected to officially announce its next flagship on the 21st of February in Barcelona, Spain (a day before MWC 2016). In a recent tweet by serial leakster Evan Blass (aka @evleaks), he claims that the device will be launched on the 11th of March.
