We’ve come across a number of reports about the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. About the devices’ camera, reports say that they will sport a 20-megapixel camera made by the Korean tech giant. We know that it will be a massive camera module, but other than that we don’t know what else it has to offer. Fortunately, DongHoon Jang, Senior Vice President and head of Camera R&D Group at IT & Mobile Communications at Samsung Electronics, had more to reveal about the new camera unit on Samsung’s next flagship, saying “it will be intelligent and do all the thinking for users.”
On Samsung Tomorrow, the Korean tech giant’s official blog, Jang said:
We meticulously evaluate every single facet of our smartphone cameras by taking over 10,000 photos in every imaginable lighting environment for analysis. The same passion and dedication has been put into building the cameras for the release of our 2015 flagship model. It will be intelligent and do all the thinking for users, allowing them to take amazing pictures under any conditions, without having to worry about anything more than just pressing the shutter button.
It will demonstrate just how far Samsung has advanced smartphone cameras, and once again will open the creative side of our users for new ideas and new possibilities.
Okay, now that we know the Samsung Galaxy S6’s and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge’s camera will be a smart camera, how smart is smart? Unfortunately, we can’t answer that at the moment. The good news is we won’t have to wait very long to find out, as the smartphone’s unveiling is just weeks away.
