The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC under the hood (SM-G935A for US carrier AT&T) has been tested by benchmark database AnTuTu. However, the versions that features Samsung’s Exynos 8890 SoC is yet to go through the benchmark site’s tests, until now.
Samsung Galaxy S7 with Exynos 8890 under the hood
On AnTuTu‘s official Weibo account (translated to English above), the benchmark site announced that the version of the Samsung Galaxy S7 with the Exynos 8890 SoC under the hood has passed through the benchmark’s tests. Apart from revealing that the Exynos version of the S7 is being tested, it re-confirms other rumoured specs. One is a new 12-megapixel rear-facing camera. Another is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for snapping selfies and video chat. Another is 64 GB of internal storage. Another is 4 GB of RAM. Lastly, the test reveals that the S7 features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 (Quad HD). As for the version of Android, the test reveals that the Galaxy S7 will run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box, which is the latest version of Android. The model number has also been revealed. The S7 that went through testing with AnTuTu bears the model number “SM-G930F.” The “F” in Samsung’s model numbers usually refers to unlocked international versions of devices. This mirrors what we’ve heard in the past, with reports claiming that the international version of the Galaxy S7 will feature the Exynos 8890 SoC.
We’ve learned from past reports that the Galaxy S7 will feature a reversible Type-C USB port, which allows for faster data transfer, faster charging, and never having to worry about plugging in the cable the wrong way ever again. There are also reports that claim that the S7 will be water proof, unlike the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. Lastly, reports also claim that the S7 will feature a microSD card slot, which was absent in last year’s S6 and S6 Edge.
Of course, since Samsung is yet to lift the lid on the Samsung Galaxy S7, take this with a pinch of salt.
Samsung is expected to lift the lid on the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge on the 21st of February in Barcelona, Spain, a day before MWC 2016 kicks off in the country.
