We heard that the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge could do away with the camera hump found on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. A newly leaked diagram reveals that there will still be a camera hump. This time, however, it will barely be noticed.
Minimal camera hump
The image above was posted by Steve Hemmerstoffer on Twitter. It compares the camera hump of the Samsung Galaxy S7 to that on the Samsung Galaxy S6. It reveals that the camera on board the Galaxy S7 will add 0.8 mm to the thickness of the device, compared to the rather significant 1.7 mm added to the thickness of the Galaxy S6.
To recap, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to feature a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, on the other hand, is expected to feature a bigger 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). It’s camera combo is expected to consist of Samsung’s new 12-megapixel BRITECELL rear-facing camera that is said to be more ideal in snapping photos and recording videos in low-light conditions and a ever-familiar 5-megapixel front-facing camera for snapping selfies and video chat. Despite featuring a lower megapixel count, this larger 12-megapixel sensor is said to be an upgrade of the 16-megapixel snapper on board the Galaxy S6. Under the hood is expected to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC for markets such as the US and China, and a Samsung Exynos 8890 SoC for international markets (including the UK). 4 GB of RAM is expected to be on board. The S7 and the S7 Edge are said to feature microSD card slots and IP67 certifications, which were not on board their predecessors. The two are also said to feature a reversible USB Type-C port, which means faster charging, faster data charging, and never having to worry about plugging in the connector the wrong way ever again.
Samsung will be hosting its Unpacked 2016 event on the 21st of February in Barcelona, Spain. The Korean tech giant has announced that it will be lifting the lid on its “Next Galaxy” at the event.
