Microsoft Lumia says Lumia Denim update coming soon

Reports claimed last week that the Lumia Denim update would roll out soon for the Nokia Lumia 930 and Lumia 930. Now Microsoft Lumia said in a tweet, “It will roll out soon following testing and operator approvals!”

Here’s the tweet:

Although you heard it from the horse’s mouth, you have to consider that network operators subject updates to testing before rolling them out to customers. This means that the update may not be available sooner than expected. This, however, shouldn’t be the case with SIM-free handsets, as these devices almost always get updates before devices tied down to a carrier.

So what does the update have to offer? It combines features from Windows Phone 8.1 update 1 and the Lumia Denim firmware update. These new features include changes to the Glance screen allowing Bing Weather viewing as well as viewing data from Bing Health and Fitness, activating Cortana by saying “Hey Cortana,” quicker shot time with the Lumia Camera app, and improved image capturing capabilities with the rear-facing camera on some models.

The update is expected to take two months to complete. If the update rolls out this month, it may take until the end of January before all Windows Phone handsets that support the update get Lumia Denim. According to reports, it is an update that is worth the wait.
