Microsoft China has started rolling out the Lumia Denim update to a number of devices that run Windows Phone 8.1. These devices include the Nokia Lumia 520, Nokia Lumia 525, Nokia Lumia 526, Nokia Lumia 625, Nokia Lumia 720, Nokia Lumia 720T, and the Nokia Lumia 1320. One of the features included in the update is a new way of activating the virtual personal assistant Cortana. To activate has, all you have to say is, “Hey Cortana.” A requirement for this feature to work is having a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8xx processor.
The update also includes major changes to the Lumia Camera app. The update helps the camera boot up much faster compared to its boot up time in the past. Additionally, capturing multiple shots in succession now takes a fraction of the time, a fraction of a second in between shots to be specific. With some models, Moment Capture allows 4K video recording and HD image capturing from videos. Lastly, the update allows the adding of Bing Weather or Bing Health and Fitness data to the Glance screen.
So when will the rest of the world get the Lumia Denim update? According to Microsoft, “The Lumia Denim update has started rolling out to a limited number of devices in selected markets, and will continue arriving in waves by device. A wider rollout of Lumia Denim to all Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone 8.1 is expected to begin in early January, following partner testing and approvals.”
Phones LTD will let you know know once the Lumia Denim update is available in the UK.
