Motorola promised that the original Moto X would get the Android 5.1 (Lollipop) update, but to a number of delays the update is yet to roll out to the handset. Over a week ago, the update rolled out to units of the handset in the Brazil, US, and Canada (units with Canadian network operator Rogers). Now, Motorola’s David Schuster has announced that the update has rolled out to their 2013 flagship in 14 countries.
Schuster announced on Google+:
I mentioned yesterday that we were looking at a potential issue on Moto X (1st Gen) and I would give an update shortly. Well….. here is your update:
I am pleased to announce that we have started full deployment for the Android 5.1 Lollipop upgrade for Moto X (1st Gen) for retail models in the following countries:
- Hong Kong
- Saudi Arabia
- United Arab Emirates
Unfortunately, the UK was not included in this list, and it is yet to be determined when the update will be available for the original Motorola Moto X in our country.
