Earlier, we passed along news that the newly launched Motorola Droid Turbo 2 in the US will be launched as the “Motorola Moto X Force” in Europe. Now, two retailers have put the device up for pre-order in the UK.
Pre-order the Motorola Moto X Force
The two retailers in question are Handtec and Carphone Warehouse. Handtec is asking £497.99 (inclusive of VAT) for a SIM free Motorola Moto X Force. Carphone Warehouse is asking £529.99 (inclusive of VAT) for the SIM free version of the device. It is also offering the smartphone on monthly plans starting at £37.50 per month. Both are only offering the black colour option. Buyers will get the device as soon as the 9th of November.
To recap, the Motorola Moto X Force rocks a 5.4-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD), which works out to a pixel density of 540 ppi. The screen is protected by Motorola’s five-layer ShatterShield technology, which guarantees the screen will not shatter within four years of use. Additionally, the scratch-resistant AMOLED screen found on top of the aluminium chassis is of the flexible type that bends upon impact instead of cracking. In the photography department, a 21-megapixel rear-facing camera (Sony IMX230 sensor) with a dual-tone LED flash and F/2.0 aperture and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash for snapping selfies and video chat are on board. Storage options include 32 GB and 64 GB versions. It also comes with a microSD card slot. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor, with cores clocked as much as 2 GHz, coupled with 3 GB of RAM. It features a 3,760 mAh battery that charges fast with Motorola’s TurboPower charger. It runs Android 5.1 (Lollipop) out of the box, with the Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) update to roll out to the device in the near future.
In terms of design, the Motorola X Force features a flat front and arched back held together by an aluminium chassis. It measures 149.8 x 78 x 9.2 mm and weighs in at 169 g. It isn’t fully water-resistant. It is protected by a liquid-repelling nano coating, which protects the smartphone from a simple drizzle, but does not protect the device from being completely submerged in water.
