According to previous reports, Google is working on a program that allows owners of Nexus devices who accidentally damage their devices to get a brand new replacement, not refurbished, for free. The search giant yet to make an official announcement, which means that details are a bit sketchy at the moment, but it seems people who purchased the Nexus 5 first-hand and accidentally damaged their smartphone (in most cases shattered screens due to drops) had their damaged smartphones replaced with new ones (one-time replacement and has to purchased from Google Play). It seems that his also applies to the Nexus 6 phablet.
Google Nexus 6 owners who accidentally damaged their phablet took to Reddit, reporting that the search giant replaced device. You may think that getting a brand new replacement device involves losing your top while being placed on hold for hours on the phone, speaking to a customer care representative. However, all they did was write Google via email about the incident, and Google shipped them a brand new unit in a matter of days. Of course, owners were required to send Google the damaged unit.
Note that this applies to units purchased via Google Play and not units tied down to network operators.
