According to a past report, the two new Nexus devices (smartphone and phablet) to be unveiled towards the end of the month will be called the LG Nexus 5X (smartphone) and the Huawei Nexus 6P (phablet). Now, if leaked boxes are to be believed, the names have been confirmed.
“Nexus 5X” and “Nexus 6P”
The alleged boxes of the two upcoming Nexus devices were leaked by Android Police. One of the boxes show “5X,” while the other shows “6P.” The images of the boxes, according to the site, comes from a reliable source. Aside from confirming that the Nexus smartphone will be called the Nexus 5X and the Nexus phablet will be called the Nexus 6P, the boxes also confirm that the two will be available in 32 GB storage options. Previous reports revealed that the Nexus 5X will be available in 16 GB and 32 GB storage options, while the Nexus 6P is said to be available in 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB storage options.
As for the devices’ rumoured specs, we’ve learned from past reports that the LG Nexus 5X will allegedly sport a 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (Full HD). In the photography department, the device is said to sport a 13-megapixel rear-facing with OIS (optical image stabilisation) and a 5-megapixel selfie-centric front-facing camera combo. Under the hood is said to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor with four ARM Cortex-A53, two ARM Cortex-A57 cores, and an Adreno 418 GPU, coupled with 2 GB of RAM. To keep the lights on, the Nexus 5X is said to come with a 2,700 mAh battery. It is said to support Cat. 6 4G LTE connectivity.
Meanwhile, the Huawei Nexus 6P’s alleged specs include a 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). In the photography department, the device is said to sport a 12-megapixel rear-facing and an 8-megapixel selfie-centric front-facing camera combo. Under the hood is said to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor with four cores clocked at 2 GHz, four cores clocked at 1.5 GHz, and an Adreno 430 GPU, coupled with 3 GB of RAM. To keep the lights on, the phablet is said to come with a 3,500 mAh battery.
The two are expected to sport a fingerprint scanner on the back and run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) in stock form (no custom UIs).
Google will be hosting a press event on the 29th of September, where the two are expected to make their official debut. They are also expected to be available for pre-order via Google Play on the 13th of October.
