The Huawei Ascend P6 (2013 flagship), the Huawei Ascend P7 (2014 flagship), and the Huawei P8 (2015 flagship) were all launched in April. According to a new report, the Chinese phone maker is planning to release its next flagship earlier than expected.
Huawei P9 to be released in March of 2016?
The new rumour comes to us courtesy of Chinese-speaking Mobile-dad. According to the site, the Huawei P9 will be launched in March of 2016 instead of April – the month of the year Huawei usually launches a new flagship.
According to past reports, the Huawei P9 will feature a 5.2-inch screen just like its predecessor the Huawei P8. It remains a mystery, however, if the P9 will feature a Quad HD screen (resolution of 1440 x 2560) or a Full HD screen (resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels) just like its predecessor. Like the Ascend P6, Ascend P7, and P8, the P9 is expected to be constructed out of premium materials and be extremely thin. Additionally, the P9 is said to feature a “curved design.” It’s unclear, however, if this curved design refers to a curved device or a curved screen like that on the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Like other flagships, the P9 is also expected to feature a fingerprint scanner. In the photography department, the P9 is expected to feature a dual rear-facing camera setup with laser auto focus. Under the hood should be Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 950 SoC, which is an octa-core processor with four Cortex A72s cores clocked at 2.3 GHz, four Cortex A53s clocked at 1.8 GHz, and an ARM Mali-T880 GPU to handle graphics made under the company’s 16 nm process. The P9 is expected to rock 4 GB of RAM.
Huawei is also rumoured to be cooking up the Huawei P9 Max, which is a phablet with a 6.2-inch Quad HD screen. It is also expected to launch in 2016, but it is yet to be determined if the device will be introduced alongside the 5.2-inch Huawei P9 or at a later date.
