Back in 2015, Huawei launched three versions of the Huawei P8. These include the regular 5.2-inch Huawei P8, its mini version the 5-inch Huawei P8 Lite, and the massive 6.8-inch Huawei P8 Max. This said, it would make sense to expect three versions of the Huawei P9 this year. According to a new report, however, not three but four versions of Huawei’s next flagship will be launched this 2016.
Four not three
This new rumour comes to us courtesy of Venture Beat. According to the report, Huawei is gearing up to introduce four versions of the Huawei P9. These include the ordinary Huawei P9, the Huawei P9 Lite, the larger Huawei P9 Max, and a fourth version that is said to be the most advanced among the four.
The report adds that the mystery P9 will be “feature-enhanced.” It is said to feature a larger screen compared to the regular Huawei P9, but smaller than smaller than the more massive P9 Max. Sadly, it is yet to be determined how big the P9 Max will be. We’re guessing over 6 inches just like its predecessor. This beefed up P9 is also said to offer more RAM compared to the rest of the bunch. Lastly, the device is said to feature a dual-lens 12-megapixel rear-facing camera. This “feature-enhanced” version is the only version to feature a dual-lens setup, according to Venture Beat.
As for the rest of the specs, the Huawei P9 is said to feature Huawei’s octa-core Kirin 950 SoC, coupled with 4 GB of RAM (there were reports that claimed that the P9 would rock 6 GB of RAM, but we doubt this is true).
So when do we get to see the Huawei P9 make its official debut? Past reports claimed that the device would be unveiled at CES 2016, which kicked off earlier this month in Las Vegas. Since the device was a no show at the trade show, there are reports that claim the device will be introduced at MWC 2016, which kicks off in Barcelona, Spain on the 22nd of February.
