Huawei is expected to lift the lid on the Mate 8 soon, and now the device’s alleged press renders have been leaked on Chinese social network Weibo, which was first spotted by Gizmochina.
Alleged Huawei Mate 8 press renders
The images shown above looks exactly like the leaked images of the Huawei Mate 8 we’ve seen in the past. The only difference is that these are high-res images, unlike the low-quality images seen in previous leaks.
So what do the renders tell us? Like the Huawei Mate 7, the Mate 8 seems to be clad in metal, giving it a more premium look and feel. It also seems to keep its predecessor’s design language, with a few changes such as a round fingerprint scanner found on the back of the device just like the Nexus 6P, which is also made by Huawei. Additionally, the camera lens of the Mate 8 is also round, unlike the squarish lens of the Mate 7.
As far as specs go, the Mate 8 is expected to rock a massive 6-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (Full HD). Under the hood is a Huawei-made Kirin 950, which is an octa-core processor with an ARM Mali-T880 GPU. As for RAM, there are two versions of the device – one is said to feature 3 GB of RAM with 32 GB of internal storage, while the other is said to feature 4 GB of RAM with 64 GB of internal storage. Going back to the processor, the Kirin 950 scored more than 79,000 points, out-gunning most of the competition. We’re hoping, however, that its GPU performs just as well, as Huawei-made processors aren’t known for excelling when graphics come to mind. Its camera combo is said to consist of either a 16-megapixel or a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera to care of snapping selfies and video chat. It is also expected to feature a massive battery with fast charging capabilities.
