Are you a big fan of Huawei’s phablet the Ascend Mate 7? If leaked photos out of China are to be believed, the Chinese phone maker is planning to launch the device’s successor, dubbed the Ascend Mate 7 Plus, Mate 8, or whatever Huawei ends up calling the device.
The photos you see above were spotted by GizmoChina posted on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo. Although the photos don’t reveal much on the device’s overall design, it does seem that it will look a lot like the Mate 7. The differences revealed by the photos is the omission of the black borders around the screen and the speaker grill found “at the bottom of the rear panel that spans across the width of the phone instead of just a small opening on the corner.”
Currently, details about the device is rather scarce. The Mate 7 sports a 6-inch screen 1080p, a fingerprint scanner (reportedly the best scanners on a smartphone), a Hisilicon Kirin 925 octa-core processor, 2 to 3 GB of RAM, 16 to 32 GB of internal storage, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and a massive 4,100 mAh battery. Unlike many of its rivals, it offers a premium look and feel. Although we can’t confirm the specs of its successor, we known for sure that it has large shoes to fill.
Of course, since the authenticity of the leak cannot be verified, take it with a pinch of salt.
