According to a tweet from HTC ROM developer LlabTooFeR, the HTC One M9 will be getting a “major software update” that will bring Android 5.1 (Lollipop), which includes colour temperature control and Guest Mode.
So what are these features? Guest Mode will allow owners of the HTC One M9 to give guest users limited access to their smartphone. Colour temperature control allows users to control the M9’s screen colour temperature. Currently, this is only possible via thrid-party apps.
Sadly, it is yet to be determined when this major update will be available for the HTC One M9. We’re guessing the update will be available in the months to come. We’re also guessing the HTC One M9 will not be the only HTC-made smartphone to receive the update.
To recap, the HTC One M9 sports a 5-inch 1080p screen, a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera made by Toshiba, a 4-megapixel Ultrapixel front-facing camera, front-facing BoomSound speakers developed by Dolby Audio, 32/64 GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (as much as 128 GB), Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor under the hood with four cores clocked at 2 GHz and four cores clocked at 1.5 GHz, 3 GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 2,840 mAh battery. It runs Android 5.0 (Lollipop) with HTC’s Sense 7.0 UI slapped on top.
Phones LTD will let you know once this update for the HTC One M9 goes live in the UK.
