Back in September, HTC lifted the lid on the HTC One A9 – its new mid-ranged, Marshmallow-powered device. So what’s next for the Taiwanese phone maker? HTC has just teased a poster on its Weibo account (in Chinese), and we’re guessing this mystery device is the unannounced HTC One X9.
According to the poster, the upcoming device will feature a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with OIS (optical image stabilisation) and support for RAW images, which is similar to what the HTC One A9 has to offer. Since the unannounced HTC One X9 has been leaked online on numerous occasions and since the device has been certified by TENAA, China’s equivalent to the US FCC, we’re guessing HTC is teasing the said device. The TENAA listing reveals images of the device and specs. According to the listing, the HTC One X9 features a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, which lines up with what the poster has revealed.
Apart from a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with OIS and RAW support, the HTC One X9 is also expected to feature a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for snapping selfies and video chat. Also expected to be on board is a 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels (Full HD). Under the hood is expected to be a 2.2 GHz octa-core processor, coupled with 2 GB of RAM. 16 GB of internal storage is expected to be on board. If this isn’t enough, it does feature a microSD card slot (as much as 1 TB) for additional storage options. The HTC One X9 is expected to run Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop) out of the box.
The teaser is an indication that HTC will announce the HTC One X9 soon. However, since the poster is in Chinese, its likely that the device will be available in China before any other market. It’s also possible that the smartphone will be a Chinese-exclusive.
If you are more interested in high-end HTC-made smartphones, rumour has it that the Taiwanese phone maker is planning to lift the lid on its new flagship after the release of the HTC One X9. At this point, all we know about the device is that it will rock the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC under the hood.
