An HTC exec has confirmed that the Taiwanese phone maker will not launch a “mini” version of the HTC One M9 , just like it did last year with the HTC One (M8) and the HTC One Mini 2 (shown below).
Speaking to Focus Taiwan, president of HTC North Asia, Jack Tong, revealed that the Taiwanese smartphone maker did not have any plans of releasing a trimmed down version of the HTC One M9 flagship this year. Why? Because consumers these days prefer smartphones with larger screens.
He said, “Overall the industry is moving towards new phones over 5 inches in size and our product roadmap is close to that of the industry.”
This is probably the reason why HTC has launched a number of smartphones with large screens. The first is its flagship the HTC One M9, which sports a 5-inch 1080p screen. In China and Taiwan, the company launched the HTC One M9+, which sports a 5.2-inch Quad HD screen (1440 x 2560 pixels). Also for the Asian market, HTC launched the HTC One E9+, which is a plastic-clad smartphone with a 5.5-inch screen.
