This year, HTC focused more on high-end and mid-range smartphones, hence the HTC One (M8) and the Taiwanese firm’s current Desire series. We hardly saw any entry-level devices out of HTC this year, but, according to a report, this will not be the case next year. The report claims that HTC is planning to launch more entry-level devices in 2015.
The news comes to us courtesy of DigiTimes:
HTC will enhance its product portfolio by launching more entry-level 4G smartphones in the first quarter of 2015 and expects its shipments to grow by a double-digit rate in the coming year, according to Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia.
HTC began to market its mid-range HTC Desire 820 dual-sim in cooperation with Chunghaw Telecom (CHT) in November and will release HTC Desire 820 single-sim in January 2015, Tong noted.
HTC has also started pushing sales through the Internet, with online sales currently accounting for a double-digit ratio to its total sales, Tung said, adding that the company will stress on promoting entry-level and specially designated models online.
Tong also said that sales of HTC’s RE mini camera have been strong since its launch in early December and expects sales of the RE camera to surpass 20,000 units by the end of 2014.
