Once Google released the Android 5.0 (Lollipop) source code back in the 3rd of November, HTC promised that it would make the latest version of Android available to the HTC One (M8) within 90 days. This meant that the update would be available in February at the latest. If a report is to be believed, the update will be available earlier than expected, the 3rd of January to be specific.
The news comes to us courtesy of Dutch-speaking TechTastic. According to the site, HTC held a private event in London, confirming that it will roll out the latest version of Android to the HTC One (M8) on the 3rd of January. Wait there’s more. It also claims that the HTC One (M7) will be getting the Lollipop update on that date as well.
With the Lollipop update allegedly coming to the M8 and M7 on the 3rd of January, we’re guessing the new Material Design-inspired HTC Sense UI will be available for the two as well. According to the report, it will. The screenshots above were reportedly grabbed from a test HTC One (M8) that runs a Lollipop build with the new HTC Sense UI slapped on top.
Sadly, we can’t confirm if the report is accurate. However, we do hope that it holds water.
Looking forward to running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) on your HTC One (M8) or HTC One (M7)? Phones LTD will let you know once the update goes live in the UK.
