Lately, rumours circulating around the internet have been mostly about the Samsung Galaxy S7. But what about the HTC One M10 (known internally as Perfume)? There have been a few reports here and there that claim to spill the beans about HTC’s next flagship. Now we have more to add, thanks to a report on Venture Beat by serial leakster Evan Blass (popularly known as @evleaks on Twitter.
More on the HTC One M10 (Perfume)
Let’s start with the HTC One M10’s screen. According to Blass’ source who claims to have had “hands-on time” with the device, the M10 will feature a 5.1-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD). This works out to a pixel density of 576 ppi. If true, this would mean that HTC is finally using a Quad HD screen on its flagship unlike the HTC One M9, which featured a Full HD screen (1080 x 1920 pixels).
Moving on to other specs, the source claims that the HTC One M10 will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC under the hood, coupled with 4 GB of RAM, which isn’t surprising since most flagships to be released this year will feature the said CPU and RAM. In a separate report, the M10 headed to China is said to feature a MediaTek SoC. The source added that the device would come with 32 GB of on board storage, a microSD card slot for additional storage options, and a home button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner.
As for the HTC One M10’s rear-facing camera, the device is said to feature a larger 12-megapixel Ultrapixel sensor. Previous Ultrapixel sensors could only go as far as 4-megapixels. The new 12-megapixel Ultrapixel sensor is said to come with lightning-fast laser-based autofocus and OIS. The front-facing camera (megapixel count yet to be determined) will also come with OIS, which is a rare thing to be on board a front-facing camera.
Lastly, the source claims that the HTC One M10 will no longer feature front Boomsound stereo speakers, which may be disappointing news, but this does suggest that the device will feature much slimmer bezels.
This new report did not say whether the HTC One M10 will be completely redesigned or not, but a past tweet by Blass revealed that the HTC’s next flagship will look a lot like the mid-range HTC One A9.
As for the HTC One M10’s unveiling, the source re-confirms that the device will not make its official debut at MWC 2016 alongside the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the LG G5. Past reports have claimed that the device will be unveiled in its own event in March and launch in April.
