Leakster claims HTC One M10 does not exist – HTC’s next flagship to feature Snapdragon 820

ROM developer and leakster @LlabTooFeR recently claimed that HTC’s next flagship will be the “HTC M10,” which makes sense since the Taiwanese phone maker’s current flagship is the HTC One M9. Not much is currently known about the HTC One M10, but another leakster says that we shouldn’t bother with the M10, since it doesn’t exist.

The leakster in question is @Riccioli1 (1 & 2). He tweets that “M10” is not the code name of the next flagship of HTC, which goes against @LlabTooFeR’s tweets that reveal the next flagship’s code name.

If @Riccioli1’s tweet is to be believed, what is HTC’s next flagship called internally? Sadly, the leakster did not reveal HTC’s flagship’s code name, but he did claim to know what the smartphone has to offer under the hood. He claims that the device would feature the Snapdragon 820 SoC, which is Qualcomm’s next high-end CPU. HTC has long been rumoured to make use of the chipset in its upcoming high-end smartphones. Qualcomm recently lifted the lid on the Snapdragon 820.

In the past, HTC CEO Cher Wang promised investors a “Hero” phone that would make up for the HTC One M9’s failing to wow smartphone buyers. We initially expected that the newly unveiled HTC One A9 would be a high-end device and the Hero phone Wang mentioned. However, the One A9 turned out to be a mid-range device, but the first non-Nexus smartphone to run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box. Many HTC fans were disappointed the One A9 wasn’t a high-end device, and are still expecting an upcoming HTC-made smartphone that can compete with today’s major players.

So now the question is, when will we see HTC’s next flagship make its official debut? According to @LlabTooFeR, HTC’s next flagship will be launched 2 to 3 months after the release of the HTC One X9, another mid-range device to be positioned under the One A9, which is believed to launch in the first quarter of 2016.

Of course, since this is anything but official, take this with a pinch of salt. We’re hoping to gather more information on HTC’s next flagship in the weeks to come.
