The Apple iPad Pro, a massive 12.9-inch tablet, has just made its official debut. The device comes with multi-tasking support and split-screen functionality, thanks to iOS 9. According to Apple’s marketing head, Phil Schiller, “It can do things that a smartphone can’t do, because it doesn’t have to fit in your pocket, and it can do things a laptop can’t do because you can hold it all day.”

The Apple iPad Pro’s key features include a 12.9-inch screen with a resolution of 2732 x 2048 pixels, Apple’s new A9X chip under the hood, four stereo speakers that offer 3X the volume of the iPad Air 2, and 10 hours of battery life. It is 6.9 mm-thick (iPad Air 2 is 6.1 mm-thick) and weighs in at 1.57 lb.

Under the hood of the Apple iPad Pro is the new A9X chip, which Apple claims offers double the memory bandwidth, 2x faster storage, and it is 1.8x faster than A8X chip. Apple also says that the new processor can handle 3 streams of 4K video edit, which is definitely an impressive feat.
The Apple iPad Pro will have an accessory called the “Smart Keyboard.” It has a new magnetic connector on the side that allows for an easy connection with the keyboard, providing it with both power and data. it will be sold separately for around £110.
Another accessory is the Apple Pencil stylus. The new stylus comes with responsive sensors found on the tip of the Pencil that allows it to sense pressure, tilt, and stroke. This will allow creative types to have a more comfortable experience when using the Pencil for things like drawing or rendering. It can be plugged into the Lightning port of the iPad Pro It will be sold separately for around £64.
Optimised for Microsoft’s Office suite
Microsoft was at the unveiling of the Apple iPad Pro to demo its Office suite for the tablet. Office suite includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Pricing and launch date
Unlike other newly unveiled Apple products, the Apple iPad Pro will not be available in stores until sometime in November (when in November is yet to be determined). A later release date also suggests that the tablet will be in limited supply, which was previously rumoured.
As for pricing, Apple’s UK site is yet to reveal how much the Apple iPad Pro will cost, but based on Apple US listing, the 32 GB iPad Pro with Wi-Fi will cost $799 (around £517), the 128 GB iPad Pro with Wi-Fi will cost $949 (around £614), and the 128 GB iPad Pro with Wi-Fi and 4G LTE will set buyers back $1079 (around £699).
