Analyst claims Apple iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will sport 5-megapixel front cameras

Currently, the Apple iPhone 6 and the Apple iPhone 6 Plus sport an 8-megapixel and 1.2-megapixel camera combo. They do snap quality photos, but compared to what their rivals have to offer (5-megapixel to 13-megapixel front-facing cameras and various megapixel counts for rear-facing cameras), it’s pretty clear the this year’s iPhones’ cameras are due for an upgrade. We’ve already learned from previous reports that the upcoming Apple iPhone 6S and the Apple iPhone 6S Plus will sport 12-megapixel rear-facing cameras, but it is still unclear what Apple plans to use for the front snappers. According to a renowned analyst, the Cupertino firm will make use of 5-megapixel front facing camera sensors with its next iPhones.

The news comes to us courtesy of MacRumors who obtained a note to investors from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst who is renowned for making accurate predictions on anything Apple-related. He claims that the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus will indeed come with 5-megapixel front-facing cameras.

As for pricing, Kuo says that the iPhone 6S (16 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB storage options) will be priced exactly the same as last year’s iPhone 6. We’re guessing that this will be the same case with the iPhone 6S Plus. Additionally, Kuo confirms that the new iPhones will indeed come with Force Touch, a new rose gold colour option, and an upgraded Touch ID fingerprint scanner.

This is all Kuo had to reveal about Apple’s upcoming iPhones, but we have already know a few things about the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus. We’ve learned from previous reports that the two will come with the new Apple A9 chip, which is said to be a triple-core processor. Past reports also claim that the new iPhones will come with 2 GB of RAM, which is double the RAM compared to the current iPhones. Lastly, the two new iPhones are said to be clad in stronger aluminium, which will prevent the bendgate fiasco from ever happening again.

So when will Apple lift the lid on its new iPhones? The Cupertino firm will be hosting a press event on the 9th of September. At the event, Apple is expected to officially unveil the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus, which is exactly a year after it unveiled the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.
