Motorola lifts the lid on Droid Turbo 2

Motorola recently lifted the lid on its new high-end smartphone, the Motorola Droid Turbo 2.

Motorola Droid Turbo 2 officially unveiled

The Motorola Droid Turbo bears design elements from other Moto handsets. It features a flat front and a slightly arched back. A metal frame hods everything in place. It measures 149.8 x 78 x 9.2 mm and weighs in at 169 g. Although it isn’t entirely water-resistant, it features a liquid-repelling nano coating, which protects the device from simple splashes. It will not, however, survive being completely submerged in water.

The Motorola Droid Turbo 2 rocks a 5.4-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD), which works out to a pixel density of 540 ppi. The screen is protected by Motorola’s five-layer ShatterShield technology, which guarantees the screen will not shatter within four years of use. Additionally, the scratsh-resistant AMOLED screen found on top of the aluminium chassis is of the flexible type that bends upon impact instead of cracking.

The Motorola Droid Turbo 2 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC (MSM8994), with cores clocked as much as 2 GHz, under the hood, coupled with 3 GB of RAM. Storage options include 32 GB and 64 GB versions. If this isn’t enough, you can always slap in a microSD card.

The Motorola Droid Turbo 2 runs Android 5.1 (Lollipop) out of the box. It offers a near stock Android experience. It will be updated to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) in the near future.

The Motorola Droid Turbo’s camera combo consists of a 21-megapixel rear-facing camera (Sony IMX230 sensor) with a dual-tone LED flash and F/2.0 aperture and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash for snapping selfies and video chat.

Battery life

The Motorola Droid Turbo 2 features a massive 3,760 battery that last a couple of days of regular use. Aside from offering more battery life that most devices, it charges fast too. Its TurboPower charger offers 13 hours of use in just 15 minutes of charging. Additionally, the device supports PMA and Qi wireless charging technologies. However, you’ll have to purchase a wireless charger to take advantage of this feature.
